Liuguang Lake Scenic Area
Liuguang Lake was formed after the construction of new water conservancy projects. With a vast expanse of water, crystal-clear quality, crisscrossing inlets, and a winding shoreline, the lake surface shimmers with blue waves where birds fly and fish leap, covering an area of 195 hectares. It features one bridge, three islands, nine wells, and eighteen bays.

The “one bridge” refers to the Duxian Bridge, which is made up of oddly shaped rocks. When the lake water recedes to a certain level, this marvelous, naturally-formed bridge can be seen. The three small islands together cover an area of about 100 hectares, offering cool summers and warm winters along with beautiful scenery—making them perfect spots for resting and recreation. Among them, Fengxing Island is currently under construction as a high-standard summer resort. The “nine wells” generally refer to the abundant groundwater in the lake; in fact, there are far more than nine wells. One of these wells is the “Ziwu Tide,” located beneath the peculiar peaks and rocks at Banqiao Temple, where five or six streams as large as waterwheels frequently gush out. Strangely enough, every day at the hours of Zi (11 p.m.–1 a.m.) and Wu (11 a.m.–1 p.m.), the water level suddenly rises three feet. If people standing near the well move their feet too slowly, they may be submerged by the rising tide. Once that time passes, the tide recedes. Hence, it was named the Ziwu (Midnight & Noon) Tide by our ancestors.

Liuguang Lake winds through towering mountains and steep ridges, featuring many bays such as Moon Bay, Peach Blossom Bay, and eighteen others in total. Each bay offers a unique charm for exploration. The lakeshore is flanked by verdant hills and clear waters, with birds singing and flowers fragrant. On the western shore lies a 150-hectare forest park, surrounded by undulating, layered mountain ranges covered in lush greenery. The mountains are brightened by the water, and the water becomes more beautiful because of the mountains—the landscape is picturesque and pleasant.
