Tomb of He Jinsheng

　　   He Jinsheng (Feb. 1853 – Sept. 1902), originally named Shangyi, courtesy name Zhonghuai, art name Zhifang, also known as Yicheng, was a native of Luan Shanling (now Tan Shanpu Township); he was born on the sixth day of the first lunar month in the third year of the Xianfeng reign (Feb. 13, 1853) during the Qing Dynasty. In his youth, he studied Confucian classics such as The Analects and Mencius. As he grew older, he devoted himself to practical studies for governance and favored researching Sun Tzu’s Art of War and Qi Jiguang’s New Book of Effective Discipline, aspiring to emulate the sages of old and save the times. In the spring of the seventh year of the Guangxu reign (1881), he passed the imperial examination for the xiucai degree. On Aug. 27, 1902 (Sept. 28), He was executed in Qingshuping (now within Shuangfeng County). All who knew him wept. Later generations erected a statue and built a memorial hall in his honor.
