Originally titled “Record of the Anding Commandery Ancestral Hall,” the stele stands 0.36 meters tall and 0.50 meters wide, inscribed in regular script and carved in the 15th year of the Jiading era of the Song Dynasty (1222). This is the only surviving stele from the Song Dynasty in the area. The inscription records that Liang Xie, the founding ancestor of the Liang family in Dutou Village, was a successful candidate in the imperial examination in the first year of the Xianping era (998) during the Song Dynasty. He served twice as Prefect of Duanzhou. Seeing the area’s beautiful mountains and rivers, mild climate, and fertile land, he relocated twenty-nine surnames of people from Nanxiong in northern Guangdong to settle here. This had a significant impact on subsequent waves of ethnic migration from Nanxiong, making this stele of great importance for the study of this historical period.
