Victoria

Introduction The capital city of Victoria is the only city and port in Seychelles, located on the northeast of Mahé Island. The average temperature during the hot season is 30°C, and 24°C during the cool season. The streets are clean, the scenery is beautiful, and the city has only one traffic light, one cinema, and one post office, making it one of the smallest cities in the world. In the downtown area stands a large memorial statue of three seagulls, symbolizing the pioneering spirit of settlers who came here over 200 years ago from Europe, Asia, and Africa. There is also a silver-plated clock tower in the city center, known as the "Little Big Ben," which was cast in 1903 as a symbol of British colonial rule. The streets are lined with many French-style buildings left over from the colonial period. Though there are no high-rise buildings, the unique exotic charm is quite unforgettable. In the national botanical garden of Victoria, you can also see Seychelles’ national treasure — the coco de mer.
