Moonfall Waterfall

Also known as Hapang Waterfall, it is located in the Dulongjiang Township, 30 kilometers from Bapo. In the Dulong language, it is called “Habai Cheng,” which means shiny water falling from the sky. The Hapwang River suddenly drops from an elevation of 3,100 meters to 1,400 meters, forming a 200-meter-high, 20-meter-wide cataract. On clear moonlit nights—especially when the moon is full—the waterfall is illuminated by moonlight, casting a reflection of the moon upon the cascading water, creating the illusion of Chang’e dancing and the Milky Way flowing gently, accompanied by the soothing sound of rushing water. Hence, it is named the “Moonfall Waterfall.”
