The first pool is called Biyu Pool (Jade Pool). The waterfall here has a drop of 67 meters, with thunderous roar and mist resembling smoke. It is located at the very beginning of the grand canyon, surrounded on three sides by sheer cliffs covered in green moss. One side is slightly more gentle, where the walking path is situated. A huge spray rises from this spot, causing trees and bamboo nearby to bend sideways under the force of the thick fog and strong winds; the second pool is called Suolong Pool (Locked Dragon Pool), where the waterfall is hidden among azalea forests, producing a deep, muffled sound, as if a trapped dragon is eager to break free; the third pool is called Zhenzhu Pool (Pearl Pool), with a waterfall drop of over 30 meters. The water sounds crisp, and the pool surface is azure blue. The waterfall shatters into countless shimmering droplets in mid-air before crashing into the pool—like pearls dropping onto a jade plate—hence the name Pearl Pool; the fourth pool is called Jigu Pool (Drum-Beating Pool). A large rock at the waterfall’s mouth splits the river into several streams that rush into the deep pool, creating a sound like drumbeats. The pool is home to wandering salamanders and occasionally visible crabs. The fifth pool is called Xiannv Pool (Fairy Pool); it is the most beautifully shaped of the five. At the waterfall’s lip, there is a coiled stone, which splits the water flow into two streams that meander before reuniting beneath the stone and plunging down together. From a distance, the waterfall of Xiannv Pool resembles a fairy in a flowing robe gracefully dancing, with sharp and distinct outlines. The Xiannv Pool waterfall has a drop of over 40 meters, and the pool is wide and unfathomably deep. On the right side of the pool, a rectangular stone slab juts out overhead, forming a natural diving platform, which often attracts visitors to linger.
