There are many scenic spots on Sanyang Peak. On the mountainside of the Lesser Sanyang Peak, there is a deep cave, about four to five zhang in depth and two to three zhang in height, named Bixiao Cave. Above the cave, engraved on the cliff face, are the words “The Highest Point in Wuyi,” written by Lin Pei during the Ming Dynasty’s Wanli era.
Beside the cave is a well, said to have been the alchemy well of Bai Yuchan from the Song Dynasty. During the Qing Dynasty, Zhou Shifang from Kuaiji once built a hut here. Halfway up the Greater Sanyang Peak lies a flat, square-shaped massive rock known as Qipan Stone, where legend says immortals once played chess.
Sanyang Peak is surrounded by ancient trees with dense foliage. Even in the heat of midsummer, when you arrive drenched in sweat, the coolness sets in within moments. Not far from here is Sanyin Terrace, which hosts the ruins of Jicui Tower An, Zhibai An, and Yangyun An, as well as Luojian at the foot of the terrace—all now in disrepair. There is also a large stone inscription that reads “The Highest Point in Wuyi.” The scenery along the way to Sanyang Peak is enchanting, with winding paths leading into serene depths. The scenic area management is currently organizing efforts to restore the hiking trails and add rest pavilions for visitors.
