Qing Shan Stone Alley Maze

The Stone Alley Maze is situated on Qing Shan Ridge in Sha Lan Village, Xiang Zhou Town, Xiang Zhou County, covering an area of around 5 hectares. This natural stone alley maze consists of walls of rock approximately 4 meters high, with cliff faces resembling fish scales. The alleys range from wide enough for two people to walk side by side to narrow passages where one must turn sideways to pass. Inside the maze, you’ll find oddly shaped rocks and boulders, winding and twisting pathways and stone gates, lifelike stone statues, and ancient vines that spread in every direction—offering a truly breathtaking sight. The passages crisscross in all directions, twisting and turning so much that without following the signs, it’s easy to lose your way. Upon exiting the maze, you’ll see peach and plum orchards nearby, their fruits just beginning to form, while distant mountains look like soft ink washes, lightly veiled in mist. A gentle mountain breeze refreshes the air. The entire stone alley maze resembles a European-style castle. Owing to the dense coverage of shrubs and wild vines, the maze remains highly concealed.
Geological experts believe that the Stone Alley Maze was formed around 350 to 400 million years ago during the Devonian period, through changes in the seabed crust and long-term erosion by water, making it a unique karst landform.
Fossilized remains can be found everywhere around the maze, often just lying around and taking on strange shapes. The surrounding peach, plum, persimmon, and bamboo groves offer shade and shelter, allowing you to leisurely cool off in the shade, barbecue delicious food, relax and play at natural stone tables, and find it hard to leave.
