Wuppertal Zoo
Wuppertal Zoo is located in the western part of Wuppertal, Germany. It is a zoo with a long history, dating back to December 5, 1879, when the zoo was officially established, though it opened to the public on September 8, 1881. Initially, the zoo had only 34 animals, including a pair of wolves and a bear. Over the years, it gradually expanded and grew.

Today, Wuppertal Zoo covers an area of 24 hectares and houses around 5,000 animals from five continents, representing 500 species. Whether flying in the sky, roaming the land, or swimming in the water, a wide variety of wildlife can be seen here. The zoo features lush vegetation and is designed to closely replicate the animals’ natural habitats. Highlights include large carnivorous felines such as tigers and lions, monkeys, gorillas, elephants, tapirs, polar bears, penguins, and free-flying tropical birds.
