Hometown of Ancient Banyans

Located in Zhongping Town, Xiangzhou County, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Accessible via Provincial Highway 20134 and a tertiary asphalt road. It is a natural scenic area typified by ancient banyans and characterized by pastoral landscapes. Almost every village in the Zhongping area has ancient banyans, hence earning the reputation as the "Hometown of Ancient Banyans." Situated on the western side of the Dayao Mountain Range, the area features low-lying terrain with dense rivers and valleys. The banyans mostly grow along both sides of the rivers, with most trees being over 500 years old. Major representatives include the Seven-Star Ancient Banyan, Renyi Ancient Banyan, Zixie Ancient Banyan, Pan岩 Ancient Banyan, and Guojiang Ancient Banyan. The Seven-Star Ancient Banyan is the most notable, located near He Village in Zhongping Town, where seven ancient banyans over 500 years old are aligned along a stream in the shape of the Big Dipper, hence the name “Seven-Star.” It symbolizes unity, peace, and prosperity. Other attractions include Renyi River, Ancient Mill Spring, Luohan Rock, and Ganwang Temple. Since the reform and opening-up, Zhongping Town has successively established high-quality grain production bases and autonomous region-level sericulture demonstration sites. The attractions are mostly within a 5-kilometer radius of each other, making the area suitable for self-guided travel activities such as hiking, cycling, and driving. It is also one of Guangxi’s important destinations for “rural tourism.”
