The "Three-River-Source" Nature Reserve Monument is situated on the banks of the Tongtian River in Jiegu Town, Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. It stands 6.621 meters tall, with a base area of 363 square meters. The front of the monument bears the inscription "Three-River-Source Nature Reserve," written by [a prominent figure, name missing in source], while the back features an inscription composed by Buhe, former Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, carved in both Chinese and Tibetan. The monument is tall and majestic, standing proudly atop a hill near the Tongtian River ferry crossing. The Tongtian River, anciently known as the "Yak River," flows through the Yushu grasslands and stretches 1,000 kilometers. It gained widespread fame for being featured in *Journey to the West*. The Tongtian River ferry crossing was an important point along the ancient Tang-Tibet Highway. The river is filled with jagged rocks, fast-flowing waters, and thunderous waves crashing against the banks. Today, a bridge spans the ancient crossing, turning a once-formidable barrier into a smooth pathway. On the southern bank of the Tongtian River Bridge lies a massive rock known as the "Sutra-Drying Stone." Nearby, ancient cypress trees are adorned with prayer flags. Legend has it that when the Tang Monk and his disciples returned from their quest for Buddhist scriptures and crossed the Tongtian River, they were overturned into the water due to failing to fulfill the giant turtle’s request. After reaching the shore, they dried their soaked scriptures on this stone. Though it is a mythological tale, marks resembling characters can still be faintly seen on the rock—clear and legible—and it remains a striking tourist attraction in Yushu Prefecture.
