Situated on Jiannjun East Road in the urban area, it is the largest, most comprehensive, and most distinctive memorial facility dedicated to the New Fourth Army in China. The memorial consists of three parts: the main exhibition area, Jiannjun Square (Copper Horse Square), and the former site of the New Fourth Army’s re-established headquarters. The main exhibition area is located in the eastern part of the city and includes facilities such as the Eastward Marching Sculpture, the Monument, the New Fourth Army Exhibition Hall, the New Fourth Army Figures Hall, the Stele Forest, and the Visitor Service Center. Jiannjun Square, situated in the city center, features the Re-established Headquarters Memorial Tower of the New Fourth Army, with its bronze statue of a New Fourth Army cavalryman as the centerpiece, serving as Yancheng’s city symbol. The former site of the New Fourth Army’s re-established headquarters is located in the western part of the city within Taishan Temple, housing the former residences of leaders such as Liu Shaoqi and Chen Yi, along with displays of cultural relics, historical documents, and photographs. The main exhibition area of the memorial hall stretches 330 meters from north to south and 110 meters from east to west, covering an area of 3.33 hectares. In the center of the square in front of the hall stands an 11.75-meter-tall “Monument to the Re-establishment of the Headquarters of the Fourth Army of the National Revolutionary Army.” The front of the monument bears an inscription by Li Xiannian, while the back is engraved with the inscription “Record of the Yancheng Meeting” written by Huang Kecheng. The exhibition hall is divided into eight exhibition rooms, showcasing over 1,000 photos of the New Fourth Army’s eight-year resistance campaign behind enemy lines in Central China, a large number of cultural relics and historical materials, as well as a collection of artistic works including hair embroidery, iron paintings, clay sculptures, and oil paintings. Additionally, the hall houses a New Fourth Army Information Room, Audiovisual Room, Calligraphy and Painting Room, and New Fourth Army Figures Room.
