Five Dragons Pool in Huangshan
Five Dragons Pool in Huangshan is situated in the Songgu Stream, not far from Furong Pool. The name “Five Dragons Pool” comes from five huge rocks that look like giant dragons — their heads reaching into the pool and their tails spread along the streambank. The formation resembles five dragons drinking from the water, hence the name “Five Dragons Pool.” The famed Ming Dynasty traveler Xu Xiake described it in his travelogue: “Azure Dragon Pool, a pool of deep blue, where two streams converge. It is more majestic than White Dragon Pool, with rugged boulders and rushing waters. Surrounded by peaks in the distance, it is also a splendid sight.”
