Lake Matheson has existed for 14,000 years yet remains in its pristine natural state. Though not very large in area, it is ample enough to reflect the beautiful surroundings. The calm lake surface acts like a bright mirror, reflecting the lakeside vegetation, white clouds in the sky, and snow-capped mountain peaks. Without careful observation, it’s hard to tell which is real and which is the reflection. The air around the lake is incredibly fresh, and being by its shores feels like a purification of the soul.
Lake Matheson is beautiful all year round, but if one must pick the most stunning time, it is at sunrise in the early morning. When the first rays of sunlight hit the snow-capped mountains and are reflected on the lake’s surface, it’s truly breathtaking — a marvelous gift from nature. That’s why it has become a favorite photography spot for enthusiasts.
