The beach is long, winding, with fine and hard sand that stretches as far as the eye can see. Though it may not be the most famous beach in New Zealand, it is undoubtedly the longest and largest. Many visitors enjoy driving at high speed along the mirror-flat golden sands, with the rolling waves of the Tasman Sea right beside them — an experience that’s both thrilling and soothing. Gazing out at the endless beach and ocean gives one the feeling that time has stopped, as if they’ve been frozen in this breathtaking scene, lost in awe for quite some time. Perhaps this is what is meant by serene beauty.
Ninety Mile Beach also attracts countless seabirds that make brief stops here. They like to gather in groups, walking back and forth on the golden sands, occasionally glancing up at the movements of visitors. But as soon as people get too close, the whole flock takes flight.
