Nyingchi Lake

　　 Introduction       Nyingchi Lake is located in Shanglaxiu Township, Yushu County, approximately 60 kilometers from Jiegu Town, Yushu County. It sits at an altitude of about 4,200 meters, covers a surface area of over 90 square kilometers, and has a maximum depth of around 30 meters. The lake water is highly mineralized, making it a saltwater lake, and is home to highland naked carp. During spring and summer, birds such as bar-headed geese, gulls, ruddy shelducks, whooper swans, and black-necked cranes come here to breed and raise their young.

　　    The lake water is crystal clear and azure, like a beautiful mirror set amidst green mountains, surrounded by herds of livestock and tents, presenting a highly enchanting scenery. Legend has it that on the night of the full moon, mysterious sounds of musical instruments can be heard coming from the lake. The local people regard this lake as a sacred site of the Goddess Tara, and hold worship ceremonies here every July and August.
