The Zeiss Planetarium is located in Jena, Germany. Opened on July 18, 1926, it is the oldest planetarium in the world and the largest in Germany—with a dome diameter of 25 meters. From astronomy and general visual-themed shows for both adults and children, to various music and children’s activities, and even spectacular multimedia laser shows—the range of events here is incredibly diverse. In October 2006, the Zeiss Planetarium installed a full-dome laser projection system, making it one of only two planetariums in the world capable of delivering a full spherical image performance. It houses some of the most advanced telescopes in the world, allowing visitors to observe the sky completely unobstructed by clouds.
