The building housing the Universum Science Center is highly distinctive, composed of more than 40,000 stainless steel panels. From a distance, it resembles either an open shell or a whale showing its teeth. The interior exhibition space covers about 4,000 square meters, and the 250+ exhibits are organized around three major themes: humans, the Earth, and the universe. Visitors are taken into a wonderful world of experience where they can conduct their own research, experiments, and trials. The museum’s motto is “active participation instead of passive reception,” meaning people can actively explore the wonders of science. The center features simulators and specially designed spaces for hands-on experiences — such as understanding how tornadoes form, why soap bubbles are colorful, or why everyone is unique. You can even learn about volcanic eruptions through simulated experiments.
