Jiuzhuang Red Army Martyrs' Tomb

Jiuzhuang Red Army Martyrs' Tomb is situated atop Zushi Guan Mountain in the Gonghe Group of Ximen Village, Jiuzhuang Town, and was listed as a county-level cultural relic protection unit in 1984. On March 29, 1935, during the Long March, the Central Red Army crossed the Wu River and entered Xifeng. On April 2, the Third and Fifth Regiments of the First Front Army’s Right Column were stationed in Jiuzhuang when they were bombed by enemy aircraft, resulting in the tragic death of over 100 Red Army officers and soldiers. In 1968, under the guidance of eyewitness Xie Wenqing, teachers and students from the local primary and middle schools collected the martyrs’ remains and interred them together on Zushi Mountain. The tomb is square-shaped, built with cement bricks, measuring 4 meters in both length and width, and standing 1.8 meters high. In front of the tomb lies a concrete platform spanning over 100 square meters, edged with bluestone retaining walls. On Tomb-Sweeping Day, people from all walks of life visit to pay their respects. It serves as a patriotic education base in Jiuzhuang and holds significant value for the study of the history of the Red Army’s Long March.
