The predecessor of Blue Coast Park was the Blue Coast Club. After the club became a ruin, residents have protested to the municipal authorities for twenty years, demanding the removal of the debris and the construction of a park on the site. In addition to residents of nearby neighborhoods, the park also attracts general visitors.
The park also houses a state school (Thales de Azevedo), as well as a public library with a collection of 600 books and a small meeting room. Facilities in the park include a playground, soccer field, fitness equipment, skating rink, restaurant, and fountain.
