Tenghai Bay is located in Linwang, over 30 kilometers from downtown Sanya. It was one of the global live broadcast sites for the first sunrise of the new millennium in China. China Central Television chose the sunrise at Tenghai Bay in Sanya, together with that on Mount Tai (from 6:50 to 7:30 a.m.), as the first rays of sunlight entering the new millennium, broadcasting the moment live to the entire world.
