Regarding Xifeng Hot Spring, there is a local legend among the Miao people: Shan Yu, the horseman of the King of Yelang, broke his leg. His father went down the mountain to fetch hot spring water to wash his son’s foot, which eventually healed the injury. Thus, this medicinal hot spring was discovered. Because it was found in the Xifeng area, it was named Xifeng Hot Spring.
Xifeng Hot Spring is located 41 kilometers northeast of Xifeng County and is a well-known hot spring in southwestern China. Surrounded by undulating mountains, the area is where the Heitan River and Qingshui River converge. At the confluence, hot springs emerge from three separate outlets with temperatures ranging from 53°C to 56°C. The waters contain over ten elements including calcium, magnesium, sodium, and potassium. Long-term consumption can treat various ailments. Additionally, the spring water contains radon, making it a therapeutic radon hot spring.
Within Xifeng County, there is also the Xifeng Concentration Camp, located 6 kilometers south of the county seat.
