Mount Nyangani

Mount Nyangani is the highest peak in Zimbabwe, rising to 2,592 meters and situated within Inyanga National Park, approximately 275 kilometers southeast of Harare. The summit consists of a steep, 40-meter-wide rocky pinnacle, while the rest of the peak area features rolling hills and an approximately 8-square-kilometer plateau that drops sharply on both the eastern and western sides. The mountain is covered mainly by evergreen wilderness in the western part of the summit and grasslands in the eastern half. It receives up to 2,200 mm of rainfall annually, with the winter months from May to August being particularly dry. Due to its tropical location and relatively low elevation, snowfall is rare on Mount Nyangani, with the last recorded snowfall occurring in August 1935. Hikers with average fitness levels can reach the summit in just 1 to 3 hours.
