Tonggang Academy

　　    Tonggang Academy is situated within Dongxiao Town Central Primary School. Constructed during the Qing Dynasty’s Qianlong period, it spans an area of 1,050 square meters. In the spring of 1921, Deng Zihui, Chen Ming, Zhang Duqi, and others held a progressive reading club here. In September 1923, the first publication in western Fujian to promote Marxism-Leninism, the Yan Sheng newspaper, was founded on this basis. It became a cradle for nurturing revolutionary intellectuals and had a profound and significant impact on the revolution in western Fujian.
