Yiwu Gymnasium

　　   Yiwu Gymnasium is situated on the west side of the picturesque Xiuhu Square. Constructed on October 10, 1989, it covers a building area of 3,800 square meters and has 1,600 spectator seats. The indoor full-court features wooden flooring and serves as an all-weather, multi-functional venue. Its main functions include basketball, table tennis, martial arts, badminton, fitness and bodybuilding, as well as large-scale cultural performances.

　　   Since its opening, the gymnasium has successfully hosted various provincial, national, and international competitions. Examples include the China-South Korea Boxing Match, the National Women’s Table Tennis Super League, the East China Table Tennis Championships, the China-US Basketball Invitational Tournament, and the Spring Cultural Gala of Shangcheng, among many other major events. These have received unanimous praise from higher-level authorities and all sectors of society. With the goal of building an international commercial city, the gymnasium has proposed a new operational approach: strengthen services, transform work style, build image, and promote development. Its mission is to serve as one activity center, one talent cultivation base, and one window for promoting spiritual civilization.
