In 1970, Duwisib Castle was returned to Namibia and opened to the public in 1991. The castle houses a collection of antiques, armor, and paintings from the 18th and 19th centuries. Although the exterior of Duwisib Castle may appear ordinary, the interior decoration gives off a cozy vibe. Inside, there are well-preserved bedrooms, lounges, dining rooms, bathrooms, and a pavilion. The clever design of the windows allows sunlight to stream into the interior, while the thick, solid stone walls keep the rooms cool and comfortable in the summer. The two fireplaces inside ensure warmth during the winter. Two swords and military sabers hang on the walls, along with some paintings. The interior decor is refined yet offers a refreshing sense of novelty.
