Under the extremely arid natural conditions within Namib-Naukluft National Park, a variety of life forms miraculously thrive, including snakes, geckos, rare insects, hyenas, Cape mountain zebras, and jackals. Near the Atlantic Ocean edge, where the air is relatively humid, the region receives an average annual rainfall of 106 mm, mostly concentrated between February and April.
Sossusvlei Dunes are a “star dune.” This massive, apricot-colored dune is the tallest in the world, reaching up to 300 meters. Visitors here can try sandboarding, horseback riding adventures, or hot air balloon rides. For photographers, these dunes are stunningly beautiful—especially at dawn and dusk, when the interplay of light and shadow makes the desert look like a surging ocean stretching into eternity.
