Kennedy Center
Introduction The Kennedy Center is located on the banks of the Potomac River, adjacent to the Watergate complex. The building is constructed from 3,700 tons of white marble, and its grand hall stands 60 feet high. Opened in 1972, it is a venue dedicated to various types of artistic performances, renowned for the outstanding acoustics in its opera house and concert hall. The arts center includes an opera house, two theater stages, an experimental theater, a concert hall, a cinema, and a performing arts library. Attending a performance at the Kennedy Center is one of the top things to do when visiting Washington, D.C. Visitors can also enjoy views of the Potomac River and the cityscape of Washington while strolling on the center’s rooftop terrace.
