Mamili National Park is the largest wetland reserve in Namibia, protecting the Linyanti swamps made up of reed beds, lakes, and islands — a haven for wildlife. The park covers 320 square kilometers, and its core components are two large islands, Nkasa and Lupala, both quietly situated in the Linyanti River. During the dry season, the area can be easily accessed by road, but in the rainy season, up to 80% of the park gets flooded. Wildlife in the park mainly includes hippos, crocodiles, African elephants, African buffaloes, antelopes, and more. In addition, it is also a bird sanctuary and the place in Namibia with the highest recorded diversity of bird species.
