The park is home to some of the world’s finest old-growth cool temperate rainforests. The dense foliage blocks much of the sunlight, though beams still filter through the small gaps to reach the forest floor. A 1.2-kilometer-long elevated walkway stretches from the rainforest into the cool temperate rainforest, taking about 25 minutes to cross. Walking across the swaying bridge is itself a challenge—it’s not as easy as it looks, requiring good balance—making it a fun adventure within the park. There are also several picnic spots scattered throughout; if you’re interested, enjoy a rustic picnic surrounded by the jungle.
The park boasts a rich diversity of flora and fauna, serving as a habitat for brushtail possums, yellow-tailed black cockatoos, crimson rosellas, wombats, possums, platypuses, and bandicoots. If you’re lucky, you might spot a superb lyrebird foraging in the wild. These birds sing beautifully with clear, melodious calls that echo through the forest for a long time.
