The ancient Yidou Opera House in Shiquan was initially constructed in the 20th year of the Daoguang reign (1840 AD), but was later burned down during wartime. Two restoration efforts were unsuccessful, and it wasn’t until the 32nd year of the Republic of China (1943) that it was finally completed. Unfortunately, it suffered damage again during the Cultural Revolution and remained unrepaired for decades, falling into severe disrepair and becoming a dangerous structure.
With the active support and cooperation of leaders at all levels, various departments, and local residents, in May 2008, Shaanxi Qianbai Zhong Group undertook the restoration and renovation project of the ancient Yidou Opera House. After several months and an investment of one million yuan, the project was completed in October of the same year. The restored opera house features traditional upturned eaves and brackets, exuding grandeur and classical beauty with its carved beams and painted rafters, and has become one of the key landmark structures of both the Yidou Ancient Town and the Shiquan tourism area.
