The gate wall is built from finely polished granite, with a clear hierarchical design sloping from front to back. Two horizontal corridors separate the upper hall, lower hall, and wing rooms. Small doors at both ends of the corridors lead to the kitchen and dining areas. This architectural design effectively minimizes the interference of cooking fumes and steam on the living spaces. The rear hall on the second floor houses ancestral tablets. The rear hall on the first floor serves as a venue for wedding ceremonies. The rooms in Dongyang Building are relatively narrow horizontally, with wing rooms only 2.5 meters wide and the main rooms just 2.8 meters, while depths vary between 5.9 meters and 4.5 meters. The ceiling height reaches 3.8 meters. The architectural design of this building reflects a shift from a primary focus on defense to an emphasis on comfort.
In front of Dongyang Building is a courtyard paved with cobblestones, enclosed by a stone wall along the edges. Inside the wall is a well, and outside is a path. A small door opens to the east, and to the south lies a crescent-shaped lotus pond.
