The Xixiang County Cherry Valley Scenic Area is a national agricultural tourism demonstration site, the largest cherry planting base in Northwest China, and the "most popular scenic area" at the Shaanxi Provincial Tourism Expo. The scenic area is adjacent to the county town, covering a total area of 12 square kilometers. It is one of the most distinctive eco-tourism destinations in Western China, integrating leisure, vacation, and agricultural ecological sightseeing. Xixiang County has held eight consecutive Cherry Festivals in the scenic area. In 2008, the scenic area received 715,000 visitors throughout the year, with a peak daily attendance of 102,000 during the "two festivals and one conference," setting a historical record.
The history of cherry cultivation in the scenic area dates back about 200 years. Currently, there are 20,000 acres of contiguous cherry orchards, making it the largest cherry production base in Northwest China. The cherries produced here are a delicacy among fruits, renowned both within and outside the province for their large size, thick flesh, juicy texture, delicious taste, and vibrant color. In the sunny days of March, the cherry blossoms bloom in full splendor, like snow-covered landscapes, attracting visitors from all directions to enjoy the flowers and go on spring outings. In early summer, the cherry trees are laden with fruit, and the slopes are covered in red, drawing guests from far and wide to savor the cherries and enjoy the scenery.
In recent years, Xixiang County has accelerated the implementation of the "tourism-driven county" strategy. In line with the goal of having "flowers in all four seasons and fruits in three," the county has continuously intensified the development and construction of the scenic area, striving to build Cherry Valley into a national 4A-level tourist attraction. Currently, the scenic area boasts complete infrastructure, including water, electricity, roads, and telecommunications, as well as uniquely designed attractions such as viewing platforms, leisure promenades, the Zodiac Garden, and the Four Seasons Garden, all of which are captivating.
In your leisure time, stroll through the red and green landscape where ripe cherries hang within arm’s reach, bringing a sense of tranquility and joy. When tired, take a rest in the quaint farmhouses with their white walls and black tiles, enjoy cherries, sip tea, and savor rustic dishes for a delightful experience. At night, under the rhythm of music, the light performances are dreamlike and awe-inspiring.
Where is paradise on earth? Explore the beautiful tea town, wander through seas of fragrant cherry blossoms, taste fruits and tea for health and joy. The ecological, leisurely, and uniquely charming Cherry Valley warmly welcomes you.
