The former site of the "Sino-American Cooperative Organization" internment camp is located at the foot of Gele Mountain in the northwest of Chongqing.

The "Sino-American Cooperative Organization" is the abbreviated name of the Sino-American Special Technical Cooperative Organization, which was established in 1942 and officially set up in 1943. After the "Pearl Harbor Incident," the U.S. government, aiming to obtain intelligence on the Japanese military operations from the - authorities, signed a secret agreement through negotiations. Together, they established an intelligence agency — this was the "Sino-American Cooperative Organization." The head of the organization was Dai Li, the director of the - military's Bureau of Investigation and Statistics, and the deputy head was U.S. Navy Rear Admiral Miles, who was dispatched by the American Navy Department.

The site is situated in a mountainous area with complex terrain and concealed geography. The facilities include Zhazidong, Mei Garden, Yangjia Mountain, Stone Factory, Bai Mansion, Wuling Temple, Honglu Factory, Wang Family Courtyard, Xiong Family Courtyard, Xiaoyanggong Bridge, Zhu Mansion, Buyun Bridge, Lan Ya, and others. These sites stretch over more than 20 li, and also included the residences of Dai Li and Miles, as well as dormitories, offices, dining halls, dance halls, auditoriums, ammunition depots, warehouses, and multiple prisons such as Zhazidong and Bai Mansion, accommodating over 2,000 Sino-American secret agents.

The operations of the Sino-American Cooperative Organization involved conducting "special warfare" and "psychological warfare" against the Japanese military, while the U.S. side trained secret agents for the - authorities. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, the role of the "joint intelligence agency against the Japanese military" ceased to exist, and the site was entirely transformed into a criminal facility used by the - authorities to imprison, torture, and execute revolutionaries and Communists. Ye Ting, commander of the New Fourth Army, was once imprisoned here. Notable Communists such as Luo Shiwen, Che Yaoxian, and Jiang Zhuyun, patriotic generals Yang Hucheng and General Huang Xiansheng, and revolutionary figures like Mr. Song Qiyun were all killed here. In November 1949, before the - government retreated from the mainland, they carried out a brutal mass execution of over 300 imprisoned revolutionaries, creating a horrifying massacre that shocked the world. After the liberation of Chongqing, the people’s government buried the remains of the martyrs, constructed martyr cemeteries, erected monuments, and established an exhibition hall here to commemorate the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the founding of New China, allowing visitors to honor their revolutionary deeds.
