Fengcun Site (Fourth Batch Provincial Protected Site)

  Period: Neolithic Age

Location: Fengcun, Huafeng Township, Yuanqu County

The site is situated on a plateau and hills between the Boqing and Yunxi rivers at the southern foot of the Zhongtiao Mountains. The terrain is higher in the north and lower in the south, with gullies on the east, west, and south sides, and the village to the north. Part of the site lies beneath the foundations of residential houses. It stretches approximately 500 meters from east to west and about 1000 meters from north to south, covering a total area of around 500,000 square meters, with cultural layers ranging from 0.5 to 5 meters in depth. Its cultural elements include the Yangshao Culture, Miaodigou II Culture, Longshan Culture, and the Dongxiafeng type of the Erlitou Culture. Unearthed artifacts mainly consist of various pottery items, stone tools, bone tools, and animal bones. Discovered cultural remains primarily include circular bag-shaped pits, oval pits, cylindrical pits, rectangular pits, house foundations, ash ditches, and urn burials from different periods.

Fengcun Site is a provincial-level key cultural relics protection unit.
