Songcun Yongxing Temple

Songcun Yongxing Temple is located southeast of Songcun Village, Huafeng Township, Yuanqu County. Also known as Chongxing Temple.

     Period: Jin and Qing dynasties

The existing buildings were constructed from the Jin to the Qing dynasties, with renovations during the Ming Dynasty's Wanli era. The temple faces south and is situated on a north-south axis. It stretches 121 meters from north to south and 40 meters from east to west, covering an area of 4,840 square meters. The layout is symmetrical along the central axis. Existing structures include the North Hall, East Side Room, East and West Wing Rooms, and the Yongxing Brick Pagoda. The North Hall has five bays in width, four rafters in depth, a five-rafter beam-column structure, three-step single-curved bracket sets on the column heads and in the interstices, and a suspended roof topped with gray cylindrical tiles. The North Hall has undergone multiple renovations, with much of its beam structure retaining Jin Dynasty characteristics. The East and West Wing Rooms are modern constructions.

Approximately 70 meters from the main buildings stands a densely-eaved Qing Dynasty brick pagoda. The hall originally housed a Northern Dynasties-era statue of Sakyamuni Buddha, though only the statue’s base remains today. Structures such as the mountain gate and offering hall were all destroyed during the “0” period.

In 1995, it was designated as one of the first batch of County-Level Cultural Relics Protection Units by the Yuanqu County People's Government. In 2005, it was listed as one of the first batch of City-Level Cultural Relics Protection Units by the Yuncheng Municipal Government.
