Lingtong Mountain boasts uniquely beautiful peaks and rocks, mainly featuring Seven Peaks, Ten Temples (or Cliffs), and Eighteen Scenic Spots.
The Lingtong Temple on Lingtong Rock was built inside a natural stone cave, covered above by an overhanging rock and bordered below by sheer cliffs. There is only a narrow “sky ladder” path leading up to it, making the terrain extremely precipitous. Nearby the temple lies the scenic wonder “Pearls of Rain,” where thin streams of water cascade down from rocks dozens of feet high and transform into droplets that fall like pearls. After rainfall, the splashing water resembles a high-hanging bead curtain, offering a stunning view.
In the past, Chen Yuanguang, the “Sacred King Who Opened Zhangzhou” from the Tang Dynasty, set up a patrol platform on Lion Peak, and the tomb of his father, Chen Zheng, was also relocated from General Mountain in Yunxiao to the summit of Lion Peak. Before entering official service, notable historical figures such as Ming Dynasty Grand Secretary Huang Daozhou, Chief Minister of the Supreme Court Chen Yangmei, and Deputy Minister of the Imperial Sacrificial Office Chen Tianding all studied at Lingtong Rock.
