A visit to Huangguoshu Waterfall is not complete without a walk through the Water-Curtain Cave. Be sure to wear a raincoat before entering, as the splashing waterfall water can soak your clothes. When we went, there weren’t too many people, and everyone lined up in an orderly fashion to take photos. Winding through the magical cave while seeing the rushing waters of the waterfall was an amazing experience.
The deeper you go into the cave, the more magical it feels—it’s truly astonishing that such a large hollow space exists within the waterfall, as if it were specially created for us. The interior is very damp due to years of erosion by rainwater, and there are numerous stalactites dripping water. Even in the peak of summer, it can feel a bit cool inside the Water-Curtain Cave. The cave walls are adorned with hanging cacti, banyan trees, shrubs, and countless vines, naturally forming a barrier. Thanks to the Water-Curtain Cave, Huangguoshu Waterfall becomes even more picturesque, with serene paths and an air of mystery.
The uniqueness of Huangguoshu Grand Waterfall lies in its continuous series of stunning landscapes above ground, underground, on the water, and in the water. The most magical of all is the 134-meter-long Water-Curtain Cave nestled halfway up the great waterfall. The Water-Curtain Cave consists of six cave windows, five cave chambers, three cave springs, and six passages.
Entering the cave via the walking path and standing inside, with water curtains pouring down from above, you can gaze out through the crystal-clear cascading waters. The green mountains, trees, visitors, and teahouses on the other side of the waterfall appear hazy and dreamlike, as if you're in a fairyland—an endlessly delightful experience. Beyond admiring these wonders, the most breathtaking part of traversing the Water-Curtain Cave is seeing the rainbows in Rhino Pool through its various cave windows. The rainbows seen here are not only double rainbows but also dynamic ones (shifting as you move)—a true natural marvel.
