Shuifen Yuan Scenic Area
This is a garden-style scenic area and the place where the main channel of the Hongqi Canal splits into three branch canals. Located 18 kilometers from the city center, it lies in the recessed area between the Datuo Ridge and Ma'er Ridge, which extend eastward from the northern part of Linlu Mountain. Originally called “Fentou Ridge,” it was later renamed “Shuifen Ridge.” The various scenic spots here are neatly arranged, with well-planned layouts, surrounded by lush cypresses, and home to rushing canal waters. It is truly a place of “beautiful landscapes” that leaves visitors feeling “refreshed and uplifted.”

The “Shuifen Yuan Archway” is the first attraction within the Hongqi Canal Scenic Area and serves as the entrance to Shuifen Yuan. It is an antique-style mountain gate archway, designed by the Anyang City Garden Design Office and constructed by the Hongqi Canal Construction Team of Linzhou City. Construction began in March 1994, with the main structure completed by July of the same year. The project involved over 2,000 workdays and an investment of more than 100,000 yuan.

The main gate is 8.5 meters high, with side gates at 6.5 meters, and the total width is 10 meters. The entire archway is supported by four brownish-red pillars, each with a diameter of 0.7 meters. Both the main and side gates are topped with brownish-yellow glazed tiles. The structure uses a reinforced concrete frame, with the central gate’s vertical beam adorned with a detailed painting of dragons in gold leaf, while the lower crossbeam features a design of grass dragons in imperial seal style. The paintings are exquisitely detailed, the craftsmanship is refined, the carved beams and painted rafters are dazzling, the architectural style is authentically ethnic and elegantly classic, and the structure is ingeniously designed with a graceful shape.

Under the eaves of the main gate is an inscription reading “Shuifen Yuan,” penned by Yang Gui, former Party Committee Secretary of Lin County, Political Commissar of the Hongqi Canal Construction Headquarters, and Advisor to the Office of the State Council's Leading Group for Economic Development in Impoverished Areas.
