On the mountain ridge stands the Nanshan Ancient Pagoda (commonly referred to as the "Fengshui Pagoda"), which has seven stories and a total height of 25 meters. It was originally built during the Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty. The pagoda’s base faces north and is hexagonal in shape. It sits against the mountain slope with its back to the county town and is approximately 500 meters vertically from the Lue-Ling Highway. From here, visitors can overlook the Jialing River, Badu River, Yudai River, and the entire city of Lueyang. Constructed with unique materials and design, it was intended to enhance fengshui, embellish the living environment, and harmonize with nature—making the scenery even more spectacular and majestic. The Nanshan Pagoda is one of the iconic landmarks of Lueyang, a mountainous city. After recent renovations and the addition of colorful lights, the pagoda shines like a brilliant pearl at night, becoming a major attraction. Beside the ancient pagoda, there is also a white marble "Martyr Hao Mingde Memorial Pavilion." Hao Mingde was a messenger for the county committee during the early days of Lueyang's liberation. On June 2, 1950, he heroically sacrificed himself while covering a rear-guard action during an incident in Jinjiahe. Every year during the Qingming Festival, the martyr’s tomb is adorned with piles of flowers and visited by a continuous stream of people.
Based around the Nanshan Pagoda, the Nanshan Park and the Nanshanyuan Leisure Villa—a resort integrating dining, accommodation, and entertainment—have been constructed, making Nanshan even more beautiful and enchanting. It serves as an ideal destination for locals and tourists to relax, exercise, and especially enjoy the night view of the mountain city.
