The Great Wall is a great miracle created by the working people of various ethnic groups in ancient China. It is a symbol of the diligence, wisdom, and indomitable spirit of the Chinese nation, as well as a treasure of world civilization. In ancient times, Yanchi was located at the northern frontier, holding significant strategic importance. To consolidate border defenses, successive dynasties built multiple sections of the Great Wall here. Currently, there are four clearly visible sections of the Great Wall in our county. Among them, three were built during the Ming Dynasty—constructed in the 10th year of the Chenghua reign (1474),
the 15th year of the Hongzhi reign (1502),
and the 10th year of the Jiajing reign (1531)—
with a total length of 186 kilometers. Another section is from the Sui Dynasty, built in the 5th year of the Kaihuang reign (585), spanning 30 kilometers. Sui Dynasty Great Wall ruins are extremely rare nationwide, making this section in Yanchi particularly precious. The four walls form an encircling angle around Yanchi,
thus earning Yanchi the reputation of being a "Great Wall Museum."
