The children’s play area is located near the main entrance for easy access, featuring non-motorized play equipment suitable for children of different ages. The central sculpture area serves as the compositional focal point of the park. The “Mother and Child” sculpture, embraced by corridors, highlights the theme of the park with its aesthetic appeal and has become its iconic symbol. The Lanxia Dicui Plaza, renovated from the original lake, uses green-shaded hills and the Lanxia Dicui pavilion as a backdrop to create a spacious activity area. Visitors can also walk up the steps to enjoy the view from above. The floral bonsai garden showcases the “king of flowers”—peonies and tree peonies that have been cultivated for over twenty years—alongside flower windows and scenic walls, together forming a delightful bonsai viewing area.
Ancient City Park is small but very crowded, with a high density of visitors. Perhaps due to its early construction, most of the supporting facilities appear somewhat outdated. To meet the demands of modern urban life and further improve the park’s landscaping and management standards, the Shijingshan District Government invested heavily in 2001 to renovate and upgrade the park based on its original foundation.
