Liaojin City Wall Museum

Introduction
The Liaojin City Wall Museum is built on the foundation of the water gate ruins of the southern city wall of the Jin Dynasty's Zhongdu (Central Capital). It is a specialized archaeological museum that combines underground ruins with historical exhibits. The museum covers a construction area of 2,500 square meters, with one floor above ground and one below. Its exterior resembles an imposing ancient castle. The underground part is the largest ancient capital city water gate site discovered in China to date and serves as an important example for the study of ancient Chinese architecture and hydraulic engineering. The exhibition hall on the ground floor is divided into five sections, covering the discovery and excavation process of the water gate, the architectural structure and value of the water gate, and the evolution of urban water gate architecture in China. The museum fully showcases the changes and development of Beijing, this ancient city, by introducing the Jicheng of the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, the Youzhou City of the Tang Dynasty, the Nanjing City of the Liao Dynasty, the city walls and urban layout of Jin Zhongdu, the imperial city, as well as the urban appearance of Yuan Dadu.
