Qu County Bamboo Charcoal
Product Name: Qu County Bamboo Charcoal
Place of Origin: Quzhou, Zhejiang
Product Benefits: Widely applicable in areas such as food preservation, odor and moisture absorption, drinking water purification, protection against electromagnetic radiation, soil improvement, and can also be used as a premium fuel.
Product Introduction: Acting as a carrier for soil microbes and organic nutrients, bamboo charcoal enhances soil vitality, making it an effective soil amendment. Bamboo vinegar, due to its unique properties of being antibacterial at high concentrations and promoting microbial activity at low concentrations, serves as a soil disinfectant, compost fermentation accelerator, and plant growth regulator (for foliar application). It also acts as a deodorizer by neutralizing nitrogen sulfide compounds, and functions as an insect repellent (against termites, mites, etc.) due to its blend of various heterocyclic compounds. In the organic farming practices (no chemical fertilizers, no chemical pesticides, and pollution-free cultivation) of developed countries, bamboo charcoal and bamboo vinegar can replace the widely used wood charcoal and wood vinegar. Bamboo vinegar is also an excellent pesticide adjuvant (enhancing efficacy and reducing usage) and preservative.
Product History: The "Ziwei Mountain" bamboo charcoal is a high-quality substitute for Wugang charcoal, successfully developed by the Qu County Forestry Bureau in 1997. It is widely applicable in areas such as food preservation, odor and moisture absorption, drinking water purification, protection against electromagnetic radiation, soil improvement, and can also be used as a premium fuel. Currently, the annual export volume is about 1,200 tons, generating output value of over 20 million yuan and profits and taxes exceeding 2 million yuan. This year, after the national science and technology authorities included Qu County’s “Bamboo Charcoal Production Technology and Series Product Development” in the National Spark Program, the county’s forestry department has collaborated with relevant research, educational institutions, and large state-owned enterprises to further enhance the development of Qu County bamboo charcoal. Over 30 deep-processed bamboo charcoal products have been successfully developed.
