Silk quilts are an emerging silk product in recent years, with sales growing exponentially. Since gradually transitioning from household workshop production to factory-based, large-scale manufacturing in the early 1990s, Zhenze has developed a relatively clustered sector of silk quilt production, forming an “industry cluster with concentrated enterprises.” Currently, the town has 72 silk quilt manufacturers, 86 raw material and accessory producers, and has established a relatively complete industrial chain—from silkworm breeding and silk reeling, to cotton wadding production, quilt flipping, and the manufacturing of bedding such as quilt covers and pillowcases—boasting an annual production capacity of 3 million quilts.

At yesterday’s trade fair, over 180 silk clothing and home textile companies from Shandong, Sichuan, Guangdong, and other regions set up booths. In front of the Zhenze silk quilt stands, many people stopped to take a look. A customer carefully examining the materials told reporters that soft, warm, and beautiful silk quilts have become a mainstream product in the silk home textile category, perfectly aligning with modern trends toward healthy and fashionable consumption.

Peng Guifu, Executive Vice President of the China Textile Commerce Association, pointed out that for a long time, China’s textile industry has focused too much on production capacity while neglecting promotion; emphasized manufacturing over branding; and prioritized exports at the expense of domestic sales—all of which are highly detrimental to industry development. In fact, 70% of the profits in the textile sector come from the domestic market. Wujiang, known as the “Home of Silk,” has leveraged specialized markets such as the Oriental Silk Market, enabling the Zhenze silk quilt industry to form a strong industrial cluster. Several well-known brands have emerged, effectively revitalizing traditional textile and silk products.
