Deep-fried Rolled Rings
Deep-fried Rolled Rings are a traditional Tianjin snack made by mixing mung bean sprouts, smoked tofu, cilantro, and starch noodles with seasonings such as sesame oil, sesame paste, fermented tofu, minced ginger, five-spice powder, and salt to form the filling. The filling is wrapped in bean curd skin, cut into approximately fifteen-centimeter-long pieces, and the cut ends are sealed with a paste made of flour, vinegar, and salt. The rolls are then deep-fried until golden brown. Deep-fried Rolled Rings have a light and palatable flavor, with a crispy exterior and tender interior. Locals in Tianjin typically enjoy them sandwiched inside flatbread.
