Lishui Strawberries

　　Lishui strawberries are a specialty of Lishui District in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. Known for their early market availability, long fruiting season, and high quality, they are favored by local residents. In the 2010 China Quality Strawberry Competition, Lishui’s Red Belle and Tochiotome varieties were awarded the Gold Medal for best strawberries and were also voted the most beloved by Nanjing citizens.

　　In recent years, Lishui District has been actively developing urban modern agriculture, with characteristic economic orchard industries such as strawberries, plums, waxberries, blueberries, and blackberries. Known as the “Hometown of Strawberries,” the district currently has over 10,000 acres of strawberry plantations, including more than 5,800 acres of facility-cultivated strawberries in areas like the Fujia Bian Premium Strawberry Garden, making it the largest facility-grown strawberry base in the province. In 2014, there were over 2,000 strawberry farming households in Lishui District, with projected fresh strawberry sales revenue exceeding 300 million yuan. Local strawberry farms also welcome leisure visitors, attracting many tourists every spring for outings and berry-picking activities.
