Enyang Chuanming Ginseng is the dried root of the Umbelliferae plant Chuanming Ginseng. It is a perennial herb, growing 30cm to 50cm tall. The rhizome is slender and long; the root is cylindrical. The stem is solitary or in a few numbers, with a purplish-red base. The basal leaves are rosulate, with leaf blades broadly triangular-ovate in outline, measuring 6cm to 20cm in length, and are tri-pinnately divided 2–3 times, with the first pinnules being long ovate. The lower pinnules have long petioles, which gradually shorten or even disappear towards the upper part. Efficacy: Clears heat, nourishes yin, moistens lungs, and calms coughs. Indicated for treating tracheitis, whooping cough, lung heat cough, and yellow thick sputum. To date, the Enyang District has adopted a combination of large-scale and smallholder cultivation methods, planting Chuanming Ginseng across 12,000 mu. Among these, Yuxi accounts for 7,000 mu, Sanhechang for 2,300 mu, Jiuzhen for 1,500 mu, and Yixing for 1,500 mu. The annual output is expected to reach 3,000 tons, with an output value of 150 million yuan.

Chuanbei Minggan is a valuable traditional Chinese medicine. Its flesh contains pharmacologically active coumarins and rutin such as isopimpinellin, byakangelicol, oxypeucedanin hydrate, and rutaretin. It is a spleen-tonifying herb that nourishes yin and lungs, with effects such as clearing heat, harmonizing the stomach, promoting bowel movements, and detoxifying. It shows significant therapeutic effects on conditions such as heat-induced yin damage, deficiency syndrome, cold deficiency, and amenorrhea.

Many growers in Enyang District have extensive experience in cultivating Chuanming Ginseng, and the product is exported to cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Chongqing, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen. A Chuanming Ginseng planting base covering 30,000 mu has been established, along with a 1,200-mu high-quality seed breeding base and a deep processing base that annually produces 5,000 tons of green food series processed from Chuanming Ginseng.
