Bee Cheng Hiang Pork Jerky
Bee Cheng Hiang brings delicious flavors from Singapore. Their pork jerky is made fresh and sold on the spot, still warm when you get it. Take a bite and you’ll notice the thick, meaty texture — not greasy or fatty, with just a hint of sweetness that makes it hard to stop eating. The staff are friendly, enthusiastically introducing the products and generously offering samples. Though the price isn’t cheap, you’ll still find it hard to resist buying some every time you pass by to satisfy your cravings.
The pork jerky is made from the fresh hind leg of the pig. The skin, fat, and bones are removed, and only solid lean meat is used as the base ingredient, which is then sliced into thin pieces. Next, dozens of seasonings including white sugar, monosodium glutamate, premium fish sauce, and eggs are applied to the meat slices, among which the fish sauce plays a crucial role. The meat slices are then spread out on a specially designed sieve tray for baking. It goes through more than ten processes including slicing, mixing, spreading, dehydration, baking, pressing, trimming, and packing before becoming those beautifully colored, fragrant, flavorful, and well-shaped slices of jerky.
