Glutinous Rice Balls
Glutinous rice balls are a traditional breakfast for old Shanghai locals. These distinctive traditional breakfast items can be found at some street stalls in Ningbo and Shanghai. The glutinous rice is flattened into a thin pancake, topped with some pickled mustard tuber, a fried dough stick is added in the middle, and then it’s all rolled into a ball—thus, an authentic Shanghai glutinous rice ball is complete.
